Childrens Podiatry

Childrens Podiatry

Children’s feet are extremely important, unfortunately most people have not heard about childrens podiatry and as such they do not not have their childrens feet checked. In our experience proper care and treatment of the feet should begin in early childhood, early intervention will prevent many of the mechanical and orthopedic problems that we see in adults. Preventive medicine within the field of podiatric medicine is just as important to your child as it can be in dentistry or general medicine. Many children walk over pronated or with excessively pigeon toed feet or flat footed or bowlegged.

As a rule with Childrens Podiatry the younger the child, the easier and shorter the treatment regime will be in general. If you have  a feeling something is not right with your child’s feet, then it may be that there is something wrong.

And Growth

It is often said that you should wait for your child to grow out of foot problems, this is simply not correct, because many children do not grow out of problems. If your child is going to grow out of their foot problems, you should notice steady and gradual improvement from week to week. The critical time of postural development in a child occur from birth to the age of eight years when the adult gait patterns are starting to be formed. Growing pains in children can be an indication that there is something wrong.

If your children complain of sore feet or sore legs it is well worth while getting some childrens podiatry so you can be sure all is alright.

Childrens Podiatry

This shows why Childrens Podiatry is so important this child has severe Club Feet with proper Childrens Podiatry this child would have been serial cast not long after birth and his feet would have been much better than is seen here. This child was brought to a medical Mission that Dr Greg Bastin attended in Vietnam. The good news is we operated on this child and he will not have to walk around like this anymore.
